Field tests of cement are the types of tests which are performed on construction site
•Color:
Grey colour with a light greenish shade.
• Physical properties:
cement should feel smooth when touched between fingers.
• If hand is inserted in a bag or heap of cement, it should feel cool.
• If a small quantity of cement is thrown in a bucket of water, it should sink and
should and should not float on the surface.
• Presence of lumps: cement should be free from lumps.
• Permissible limits for impurities in water

Organic-200mg/l
Inorganic-3000mg/l
Sulphates (SO3)- 400mg/l
Chlorides (CI)-2000mg/l PCC Work
500mg/l for RCC work
Suspended matter-2000 mg/L
