General Shear failure

In this article we discuss what is general shear failure and different modes of shear failure

it occurs in medium to dense Sand

This mode of failure is found in Shallow foundation very dense Sand (OCC SOIL)

It has a very well defined failure pattern

Stress Zone extended upto ground Surface

A Sudden failure is observed by tilting of foundation

Large bulging /heaving is observed near the foundation

Less Settlement is observed

load Settlement Curve Indicate that the failure is Abrupt and Ultimate Load Can be easily located
