The degree of Kinematic Indeterminacy (or Degree of Freedom) is the minimum number of independent displacement components necessary to describe the deformed configuration of a structure.
There are two main types of degrees of freedom (DOF):
- Joint-type DOF: Displacements associated with joints in the structure.
- Nodal-type DOF: Displacements related to specific nodes or points in the structure.
Define degree of kinematic indeterminacy.
